For unto us a Child is born… and his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Christmas is the time we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus- “The Prince of Peace.” He came to bring us peace, to anchor and to establish our hearts even through the most turbulent of times. Storms come and storms go, but we must know that the Lord is with us at all times. As we look back over this past year, we’ve endured many challenges, crisis and circumstances; however, if we just allow His provision of Peace to flow in and through us, His love and peace will reign supreme in our hearts and minds.
How can we be at peace and not let our hearts be troubled or afraid? By leaning on the Prince Of Peace-It’s a peace that surpasses all human understanding, and it provides us with safety, soundness of mind, stability and even sweet sleep. There is no reason to worry or fret for you can turn your cares into prayers, knowing that the Lord of peace Himself is in you, with you and for you. His robust peace will bring you safely through every storm! If you look up “peace” in a dictionary, you’ll find words like…Tranquility. Quiet. Harmony. Accord. Freedom. This peace is so deep, often defined as “completeness” is a complete lack of want, and a complete trust in the God - Jesus, who is the Prince of that peace, a sweet Heavenly peace! When Jesus was speaking to His disciples, He said: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27) As the Prince of Peace, Jesus is able to give us a type of peace the world can’t match. He doesn’t give like the world gives; He leaves us with deep, real peace—His shalom.
Slow down, carve out some quite time to be at peace, reflect on God’s Word, Don’t add to the noise; instead, be a peacemaker, show kindness. Give with joy. Take time to be still and know that He is God. Be at peace and be grateful for life and the things Jesus has blessed you with. So this Christmas I’m offering you this free gift of Peace- Jesus our Savior- “ The Prince of Peace.”
